HOW TO: The way I curl my hair.

So , one of the most asked questions I get from readers etc.. Is how do I curl my hair. I really don't think my hair is anything special or hard to achieve to be honest.

But I love to answer your questions, so here is a How to on how I style my hair.

Before I start my hair for events I always use my sleep in rollers just too give a little extra boost of volume the longer you leave them in the better hold and height you will get from your hair.

Penneys/Primark have the own brand of sleep in rollers.

This is not a necessity but I like the extra effect it gives.

Any wand will do I have a babylis one which I bought so long ago I don't know the exact name but it is quite a large barrel. That's a picture of it below.

FIVE STEPS TO BIG & BOUNCY CURLS.
Step one: Take the rollers out after your satisfied with the length of time they have been in.
Step two: Section your hair, enough each time to get about four curls on each side of the head.
Step three: Depending on what wave you want you need to choose which way your going to face your curl.

Curling away from your face is what I have been doing lately & which gave the look below. It gives bigger fuller looser curls I feel.
Curled away from face

Curling towards the face, gives that real old Hollywood glamour type of curl.
Beautifully wavey understated and classy.

Curled towards face.

Step four: Once you have decided on the curl you want.
With each curl you want to pin straight away without letting the curl fall.

It should look a little something like this

WHY PIN EACH CURL?
They reason I do this is because I have very long & thick hair.
If I let the curl fall straight away they curl won't last me the whole day.
Obviously if I'm in a rush on a day to day basis I will just curl my hair dead quick without pinning & it does be fine. It just wont last as long, I usually get three days out of my curls when freshly washed once I pin them. Also I feel it creates body.

Step Five: Let the curls cool down completely, or for as long as you have time.
Then unpin every curl.
Your curls are going to be really tight and bouncy.
I then use a paddle brush & brush the whole head out. This is another reason why pinning is so important so you don't loose the curl.
Hairspray & your good to go.

You can always opt for a middle split too, just spilt your hair to the middle when parting at the start. All the rest of the steps apply.

I really hope this post helped you. I am no hair dresser, but I do enjoy messing around with my hair.
Please send me pictures if you picked up any tips from my post I'd love to see them.

Nima Brushes: The Kabuki contour set.

Nima brush is an award winning Irish brush brand established by the beautiful Niamh Martin. They have a wide range of brushes using natural & synthetic hairs.
Between the awards, great reviews & the beauty of the brushes themselves I have been dying to try out these out for ages.

I finally got my hands on her Four piece kabuki brush set, which claims to be great for contouring & they are not wrong. They arrived within two days of ordering them with a delivery charge of only five euro. On arrival they came packaged lovely & neatly in individual sealed bags which I really appreciated because some cheeper brushes tend to come loose.

On first inspection the brushes where so beautiful, white handles with a rose gold ferrule.

The hairs are synthetic which I am all about because they last much longer, are easier to keep & can be used for both cream & powder products. The hairs are sooo soft & fluffy to touch. They where so white to it took me a few days to actually bring myself to use them!

As a set they cost 50 euro, but individually the cost 18 euro.

Domed contour kabuki brush
This brush is just the right size to fit into the hollows of the cheekbones and gives a really gorgeous craved out contour especially when using cream products because its a very dense brush you can bounce the product onto the skin for a really natural finish. I adore how dense the brush is, it makes it so easy to get a really defined contour when using ether cream or powder products. Leaving you with lovely clean lines, It is also great for bronzing the temples of the face too. I have used this brush everyday since I got it & it is such a brilliant brush I love it. You can never seem to over do your contour with this brush as it picks up just the right amount of product letting you build & work up the look that you want. This brush is definitely the most interesting brush from the set, it is unlike anything I own.

The flat top kabuki brush.
Flat top kabuki are my new love for applying my foundation. The trick is to bounce the product onto the skin. At first, I was disappointed with this product as it eat up alot of my foundation compared to other flat topped kabuki brushes. This was probably my own fault for not taking my brushes straight to the sink & washing them when I got them. After washing them they problem was much better.

Angled contour kabuki brush

This brush is the most multifunctional brush of the four. It could be used as a cream or powder blusher brush. It could also be used as a contour/bronzing brush for again ether cream or powdered products. This brush is much more fluffy than the domed contour brush so it gives a more natural finish & is easier to buff out products for a softer finish. I really love this brush, I will definitely pick up another one of these brushes as it is so useful it would be handy to have a second one. It is a brush everyone needs in their collection.

Fluffly kabuki brush.

This is beautiful so fluffy & soft, it distributes just the right amount of powder. I use this to set my foundation using the mac mineralize skin finish powder. This brush gives such a natural finish its my absolute favourite brush of the pack.

As a whole I am delighted I purchased these brushes & will definitly be ordering more from the Nima Brush range. Everything is so reasonably priced & for such high quality. I would recommend them to anyone.

Contour look I created using the four brushes These four brushes make contouring so easy. It is an essential set for any make up lover or beginner you have everything you need for perfecting your face within this set.

Garnier Micellar water review.

Like I say at the start of every skin care review, I have normal/dry skin. I am quite sensitive so I am very cautious when trying out new products.

I was dying to try out this Garnier Micellar water after hearing great things from so many people.
The water really does remove your makeup very easily without causing any redness to the skin.
My skin does feel very clean & fresh after using the water.
It is gentle enough to remove your eye make up & I have really sensitive eyes.

The only downside for me is being a litte dry already I do feel it leaves my skin dry in comparison to cleansing milk. I feel like this would be a bonus for an oiler skin type.

I haven't let this turn me off this product though because it makes life so easy for removing your make up especially when you come home late & you really haven't the energy to go trough your full skin care ordeal.

I usually would turn to Simple Makeup wipes when I'm in that mood & their the only wipes that doesn't irritate my skin or leave it feeling dried out. The simple wipes are five euro for two packets usually, & the Garnier micellar water is the around the same price. However, the Garnier water has lasted me & my mam using it for over a month. Which is really good considering we both use this product every night.  I usually would go trough the wipes alot quicker as I normally use about two at a time.

The more I use this product the more I love it, my skin has been in great condition since I started using this product with no break outs. It's defiantly a great switch for someone who uses make up wipes all the time to remove their make up.

When I'm feeling really really lazy I will just use this water to remove my make up & that is me done.

Other times I will use my :

Angels on bare skin cleanser from lush
Again its prefect for sensitive skin its has lavender, chamomile & ground almonds to give an everyday general exfoilation. I feel so fresh & hydrated after using this my skin feels so soothed & the gentle exfoilation is prefect to keep your skin looking polished & glowing.

Lush Eua Roma Water, great for sensitive skin. I find this stuff really cooling and calming on my skin & I feel so hydrated afterwards. I literally saturate my cotton pad in this & I have it like two months for a small bottle it goes along way. Its also great to freshen your makeup/face during the day, so refreshing. Its just lavender & rose water & any facial moisturiser to finish it off.

I have come to the end of my Micellar water just today actually sad times & I will be definitely buying it again pronto.
