Last tuesday night I was invited to McCabes pharamacy in City west shopping centre, for their Makeup-Studio demo evening.
Myself, along with the rest of people attending were welcomed with food and wine. There was some great tips and tricks demonstrated on the night by their two lovely makeup artists Neil and Caitriona. Ill keep you all informed on my facebook page for when the next evening is taking place.

I'd definitely recommend you to go its a free girly night out with lots of skin care and makeup tips, whats not to love there!
This contour pallet is a new product to makeup studios wide range. It comes in ether cream or powder. There are two different pallets one pallet is called 'light' for light to medium skin tones and the other called 'dark' for medium to dark skin tones.
I choose the light to medium one. It comes with five contouring shades.
The texture of these shades are just so creamy! unlike the crown contour pallet which I also reviewed that can leave the skin a little dry and cakey.
Above is all the shade swatched out for you. I love all the colours in the pallet, especially the colour banana it has such a gorgeous yellow tone to it without it being over powering I really love this to highlight certain areas. I love this as an under eye concealer as it doesn't set into fine lines or pores which can be hard to find when it comes to concealers. The two contour shades No.5 and oriental are such lovely colours not too ashy or too orangey just the right shade to contour the face with and gives you a lovely warm hue to the face. The light rose colour is prefect for someone with very fair skin to use to highlight there face. Its a prefect colour for our Irish skin tone. For me, my skin is slightly more olive so this shade doesn't exactly work allover for me but is prefect for around my eye area is it has a slight rose/pink hue to it which is prefect for brightening the eye area! So that colour really can work both ways and for anyone! The beige colour for me is too dark as a highlighter and too fair for a contour for me but is prefect too cover any blemishes. For my very fair ladies i'd recommend this to you as your contour.
As you can tell by how messy it is in the picture above I have really been going at this product! I really do love it.
This product uses the exact same formula as there 'Face it' foundation compact if anyone is a fan. The only difference is these are exclusive contouring shades. Seen as its the same formula it will to be just as long lasting as a foundation. Id say that this pallet would work just soo amazing when contouring using your face it foundation as a base. I'm definitely going to try out the face it compact foundation.
So how did I use it?
For day time:
Well to get full use of the product I first used it on its own as my foundation with no base other than my moisturizer. It gave me the most natural finish to my skin, yet the right amount of coverage for day time. I used it just as if I was contouring with my light and dark shades and than I set it with some translucent powder. As you can see from the picture below its very natural but could be built up for places which needs the coverage. I'm usually a medium coverage gal but for a natural look this is prefect for me.
Using just the contouring shades as a 'foundation'
Fuller coverage/nightime:
So, everyone and their cats mother knows about that Kim k contour of using light and dark shades to highlight the areas you want to be seen with a lighter shade and hollow areas that you don't with a dark shade. I hope the picture above helps. Its where I highlight but everyone's features are different and you have to play around to get the right way for you. Basically put the dark anywhere you want to look thin!haha.
Firstly I apply my regular foundation. My NC35 MAC prolong wear.
Then I...
CONTOUR: (Using shade No.5) Cheekbones suck in and make a fish face to find those, yes you look silly. Around the forehead to make it appear smaller. Under the lip area to make them look fuller. Along the jawline to stop that unflattering double chin in photos! we all know the fear. You can contour along the bridge of the nose but use a light hand as it can look dirty I used the shade oriental for this.
HIGHLIGHT: Under eye area, cupids bow , along the bridge of the nose and under the cheek bones. To blend the highlight in under my eyes I like to use my ring finger as it gives just the right amount of pressure, also the heat from your fingers is going to help effortlessly blend everything in.
Should look a little something like this. I dont usually draw out the whole face I just add the light and shade as I go to be honest. I just did that above to outline to you where I would put the colour.
I use four brushes for this:
My makeup studio polish brush to apply my foundation first.
The Real Techniques buffing brush to apply the highlight colour and to buff it into my skin
The Real Techniques pointed foundation brush to apply the contour.
The Real Techniques contour brush to buff out the contour, (always blend it out upwards.)
(All Real Techniques brushes used are from their core collection set)
After blending out, with no other products over it.
This product costs: 49 euro, From any McCabes stores.
You can buy each colour as a refill also.
